Public Meeting March 9 re: Potential Ocean Springs Road Enhancements
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors will hold its second Public Open-House Meetings regarding potential enhancements to the 4.4 miles of Ocean Springs Road between Highway 90 and Highway 57 on Thursday, March 9 between 5-7 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Civic Center (3730 Bienville Blvd). Residents interested in learning more about the project can arrive any time during the 2-hour period as there is no formal presentation.
The County, in partnership with the City of Ocean Springs, has been working with Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc. to determine possible improvements to the roadway that will accommodate future growth in the area and provide better access and safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Some of the current concepts include a three-lane section with a center median or turn lane as well as a multi-use path adjacent to, but separate from, the roadway.
Feedback received from the meeting will be documented and considered in the conceptual engineering designs for the roadway. Residents who have questions or comments, but are unable to attend the meeting are welcome to contact Adam Jackson with Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc. at 228-875-1919. All comments need to be submitted on or before March 16.
Once this feasibility study phase of the project is finalized, a report will be posted on the County’s website www.co.jackson.ms.us.
