A 26-year old man is in the Adult Detention Center on
$100,000 bond for allegedly committing an armed carjacking over the weekend in
St. Martin. Sheriff Mike Ezell says the car owner gave Broderick Tyler a ride
Saturday (August 3), from the south Circle K at Tucker Road to the north Circle
K, also on Tucker Road. Once there, the sheriff says both men went into the
store and when they came out, Tyler jumped in the driver’s seat and pulled a knife
on the car owner.
After a brief struggle, the sheriff says Tyler took off
going west on I-10. The car was entered on NCIC and later that afternoon,
Gulfport police located the vehicle with Tyler still inside. Tyler was taken
into custody by a deputy and driven to the ADC. The car was returned to the
owner.
