On August 15, 2022, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors accepted the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan as a guide for future recreation services to the citizens of Jackson County. The purpose of this master plan was to evaluate the public parks and recreation system for the County Recreation Department and offer recommendations to enhance and improve the level of services provided over the next decade. It is important to recognize that the plan merely identifies the recreation needs, predicts future demand, and recommends improvements pertaining to budget, staffing and programmatic concerns of the Department and it was developed through public input, focus groups, interviews, and professional analysis. The plan is to be used as a visionary framework for long-term use and development – some recommendations may be considered and implemented and some may not.
