Archives Department

Created in July 1993, the Jackson County Archives Department is responsible for the preservation of county records for the people. State law requires that these records are kept forever.

Records

Most of the archives records date back to 1875 when the county courthouse burned and include:

  • Chancery Court Cases from 1875 to 1980
  • Land Rolls
  • Local Newspapers from 1875 to 1929 (Hard Copy)
  • Newspapers on microfilm
  • Official Board of Supervisors minutes
  • Tax Receipts

Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates may be obtained from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
