Privilege license

A Privilege License is a license allowing a person to do business in the County for a profit.

Businesses outside the incorporated areas of the county are required to obtain a Privilege License through Jackson County Tax Collector's Office.  Businesses within the incorporated areas need to contact that city.

1.    Obtain a Permit for doing business within Jackson County through the Planning Department.

If the location of the "new" business is: 

In the correct zoning district the Permit will be issued 

Not in the correct zoning district, the owner must present the following PRIOR to attending a Planning Commission hearing to get the district rezoned:

1. Legal description of business
2. Survey
3. Names and addresses of persons residing within a specified radius of "new" business location so they can be notified
4. Anything else the Planning Department may ask for

Average License

• Present permit to Tax Collector's Office

• Number of employees (Full-time)

• Amount of inventory (if applicable)

Daycares, Salons, and Convenience Stores

• Permit from Planning

• State License

• Health Department Permit

• Tobacco/Beer License from State (if applicable)

• Number of full-time employees

• Amount of inventory

Contractors

• Permit from Planning

• $2,000 Surety Bond made to Jackson County (jobs under $10,000)

• State License for jobs (over $10,000 plus $2,000 Surety Bond)

• Number of employees

Transient Business

• No building or home to work from

• Permit from Planning

• $2,000 Surety Bond made to Jackson County

• $250 first time fee

• License good for 90 days
