GIS/Mapping Department
The GIS/Mapping Department is responsible for the maintenance of County maps pertaining to townships, county property roads, municipal annexations and jurisdictions. This is accomplished each day based on the mapping requirements set forth by the Mississippi State Tax Commission. Changes are made from Deeds that are filed in the Chancery Clerk's Office whenever any and all property located in
Jackson
County is sold. The Mapping staff inspects property maps for accuracy and completeness and assists in reconciling information with existing maps and county databases.
The technicians are required to have experience in common conveyance instruments and mapping. They must be trained in Cadastral/Land Records Entry, GIS/CADD Software programs and respond to all inquiries concerning mapping and deed questions.
