JC held a “Grand Opening” ceremony for new Services Complex on Dec. 15

The “Grand Opening” of the new Jackson County Services Complex was held on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. in Downtown Pascagoula.

Jackson County Supervisors were joined by representatives from the MS Development Authority, the City of Pascagoula, community leaders, and many county employees for the ribbon cutting ceremony which officially opened the 65,000 square foot facility.

“Our employees are thrilled to be moving back to Downtown Pascagoula,” Board of Supervisors President Melton Harris, Jr., explained. “It’s important to remember; almost 100 employees have been located at the Fairgrounds since Hurricane Katrina so they’re ready to have a permanent home again.”

The new Services Complex was built in 18 months under the direction of the Jackson County Board of Supervisors and is located on 2915 Canty Street in Pascagoula, one block south of the County’s Courthouse. More than 145 employees across 16 departments have moved into the new Services Complex over the course of the last month.

“The County was in real need of this center even before Katrina hit the Coast. This building will bring ‘one-stop services’ to our residents and citizens with dozens of County departments under one roof,” Supervisor Mike Mangum, District 3 said.

The County secured $12 million in federal grants towards construction of the new Services Complex. The Board has budgeted an additional $2 million in County funds towards cost.
