JC reopens McInnis Bayou Boat Launch with ribbon cutting
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday to officially reopen the newly improved McInnis Bayou Boat Launch in Moss Point. The boat launch, which was damaged by Hurricane Katrina, had been closed since May to allow for the construction of new piers and replacement of the original wooden bulkhead with a more durable vinyl bulkhead. The parking lot was also repaved.

JC Animal Shelter awarded $2500 grant from Singing River Electric

The Jackson County Animal Shelter was awarded a $2500 Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Grant from Singing River Electric on Tuesday. The grant funds will be used to purchase medical equipment that will help improve JCAS Veterinarian Dr. Tiffany Flowers’ ability to diagnose and treat the animals.

Jackson County was recognized as the Coast’s first StormReady County by the National Weather Service Office of New Orleans/Baton Rouge during the June 16 board meeting.

JC Board of Supervisors Proclaims Children's Mental Health Awareness Day

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors proclaimed May 8, 2014 as Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day during their board meeting today. Intellectual and developmental disabilities affect more than 7 million Americans and their families.

Concrete Slab Completes Phase One of $7.2 Million Operation Expansion Project at Signet Maritime Corporation

The construction of a 54,000 square foot concrete vessel dry-docking slab marks the completion of the first phase of a $7.2 million infrastructure improvement project at Signet Maritime in the Pascagoula River Harbor.

Road Advisories in Jackson County


Road Dept. annouces road closure in Latimer Community

The Jackson County Road Department is temporarily closing a section of Tucker Road beginning Friday, February 19 from Brodnax Road north to the Latimer Community Center. Road crews are installing a new 78 foot long concrete box culvert. Work is expected to take two months, weather permitting.

Residents will be able to detour around the closed section using McClellan Road, Daisy Vestry Road, and Old Biloxi Road. All drivers are asked to use caution around this construction site. Pay special attention to traffic signs, road workers and heavy equipment. For a current list of all Jackson County road projects, visit Road Advisories in the left column.
