Jackson County Board of Supervisors 2013 President Mike Mangum presented the official “2013 State of the County” address on Wednesday, January 30 at the Pascagoula Rotary Club.

Jackson County to hold open house at new Hurricane Shelter on Feb. 7

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors is holding an open house at the new Vancleave Hurricane Shelter on Thursday, February 7 from 5-6 p.m. A Town Hall meeting will be held immediately following the event.

The Hurricane Shelter Open House marks the official completion of three identical shelters that have been under simultaneous construction by the County since 2011.

Jackson County Bicentennial Time Capsule to be placed in ground Jan. 24

On Thursday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m., the Jackson County Bicentennial Time Capsule will be placed in the ground in front of the Courthouse, and sealed up until 2062 – 50 years from now.

Jackson County Election Commissioners were sworn in by Circuit Clerk Joe Martin on Wednesday, January 2. Newly elected Jerry Sims (Dist. 2) and Debbie Hodges (Dist. 3) joined returning Commissioners Danny Glaskox (Dist. 1),  Joe Barlow (Dist. 4) and Jon Rivera (Dist. 5) in the Circuit Court Room at the Courthouse at 11 a.m. to take their oath of office.

Jackson County Day Bicentennial Celebration Planned for Dec. 18 (rain or shine)
Jackson County’s pioneering spirit has been showcased throughout a yearlong Bicentennial Celebration with a series of signature events that  honored the past and create a legacy for the future. The festivities conclude on Dec. 18 with Jackson County Day at the Courthouse at 3104 Magnolia St. in Pascagoula from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m..
