November 15 proclaimed America Recycles Day in Jackson County
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed November 15 as America Recycles Day in Jackson County. America Recycles Day, an initiative of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationally recognized day dedicated to celebrate and learn more about recycling programs in our own communities.

JC Board Proclaims Nov. 8 as “National Adoption Day in Jackson County”

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors proclaimed Friday, November 8 as “National Adoption Day in Jackson County” during their board meeting today. Friday will be memorable day for 14 Jackson County children and their foster families as they become official, permanent families.

JC Board proclaims October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Jackson County Board of Supervisors proclaimed October 2013 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Jackson County during their October 7 board meeting. Representatives from Adrienne’s House, a satellite domestic violence shelter of the Gulf Coast Women’s Center for Nonviolence, attended the meeting to accept the proclamation and address the audience.

Recycling gets more convenient at Jackson County facilities
Jackson County’s next step in “recycling convenience” has been delivered! Ten 2-in-1 containers have been placed at high traffic County facilities to encourage more recycling. The new 55 gallon containers have designated sides – one for trash and litter and the other for commonly used recyclables such as plastic and glass bottles, cans, and newspapers.  They are located at both recreational and office facilities.

John McKay to hold town hall meeting on Sept. 11

Jackson County Supervisor John McKay will held a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, September 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fontainebleau Community Center. The key topics were TESI water and sewer and the County’s Flood Plain Manager gave an overview of the new FEMA elevation guidelines.
