Jackson County Supervisors to appoint Charles Britt as Interim Sheriff on Jan. 6
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors has selected Major Charles Britt to serve as Interim Sheriff, subject to his appointment on January 6, 2014. Britt was one of four finalists that were selected to interview individually with each Supervisor on Thursday. The other three finalists included Louis Miller, Jack R. Walker, Jr., and Michael Whitmore, Sr.

Property tax bills hit Jackson County mailboxes
Property tax billing statements for all Jackson County property owners will arrive in mailboxes soon according to Tax Collector Joe Tucker. An estimated 60,000 statements will start being mailed by Monday December 2nd.

Ribbon Cutting for new Highway Patrol/Driver's License Office

More than 50 people attended a ribbon cutting on Nov. 19 to mark the official opening of the new Highway Patrol/Driver’s License Office in Gautier on Highway 57. The $254,900 facility is 2,000 square feet with a waiting area that will accommodate 36 people.  The building, which replaces the Pascagoula office, has actually been open for business to the public for driver’s license testing and issuance for the past couple weeks. The new phone number is 228-818-8340.

November 15 proclaimed America Recycles Day in Jackson County
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed November 15 as America Recycles Day in Jackson County. America Recycles Day, an initiative of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationally recognized day dedicated to celebrate and learn more about recycling programs in our own communities.

JC Board Proclaims Nov. 8 as “National Adoption Day in Jackson County”

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors proclaimed Friday, November 8 as “National Adoption Day in Jackson County” during their board meeting today. Friday will be memorable day for 14 Jackson County children and their foster families as they become official, permanent families.
