What's New in Jackson County
Jackson County participates in the voluntary program called the Community Rating System. The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS) is a voluntary incentive program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum NFIP requirements.
Jackson County Supervisor John McKay will hold a Public Hearing and Town Hall Meeting on September 18 at the Elks Lodge on Beachview Drive in Gulf Park Estates. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Jackson County Animal Shelter was awarded a $2500 Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Grant from Singing River Electric on Tuesday. The grant funds will be used to purchase medical equipment that will help improve JCAS Veterinarian Dr. Tiffany Flowers’ ability to diagnose and treat the animals.
Jackson County was recognized as the Coast’s first StormReady County by the National Weather Service Office of New Orleans/Baton Rouge during the June 16 board meeting.

The Jackson County Road Department will be closing Indian Lane in the Vancleave community from September 22, 2014 through October 30, 2014 to replace the existing bridge with a new concrete pre-cast bridge. All residents in the area will need to detour north on Indian Lane to Campground Road to Wire Road.
