Jackson County Small Craft Harbor (Ocean Springs)
Located just north of
Deer
Island inside the water’s of the
Mississippi Sound, Ocean Springs Bayou makes the ideal location for the County’s small craft harbor. The Small Craft
Harbor provides 165 long term boat slips to sailing, commercial and power private vessels. If space allows, the Harbor also provides short term stays for boaters or sailors passing through by renting transient slips.
The Harbor’s scenic views and facilities also make it a great location for land lovers. Residents can stroll along the County’s 800 foot long board walk and pier to the mouth of the harbor. A covered pavilion at the end of the Harbor Pier is a relaxing spot to watch shrimp boats go out for the day or to see the sun set in the Sound.
Although officially inside the city limits of Ocean Springs, the Harbor is operated by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors. The Board employs a full time Harbor Master to manage the day to day operations. A seven member commission, appointed by the Board, helps directs the Harbor’s future planning. The Harbor also receives support from the County’s Maintenance, Recreation and Road Departments on projects.
