Both divisions provide personalized technical support to the various County offices that deliver day to day services to the citizens of Jackson County .  If there’s a computer problem, software question or a request for map data this department is part of the solution.

  • Administrative and political boundaries (supervisor districts fire districts, legislative districts, precincts, school districts, etc.)
  • Parks and recreation

  • 2000 Census data
  • Miscellaneous other data (ask, we may have it)

The on-line Webmapping is maintained by the GIS Division (Link in left column). Here you will be able to view and interact with our Internet mapping site that utilizes some of our new features, tools and reports.

The GIS division is currently working on new and exciting GIS projects and developing new data and applications as part of the County’s Enterprise GIS program. The term “Enterprise GIS” means a geographic information system that is integrated throughout the entire organization so that all staff can create, view, and share geographic data and related information to address a variety of needs. The goal of our program is to implement centralized resources that reduce data redundancy and promote efficient and effective use of GIS among County staff.

Information Technology Division

The IT division handles computer systems for over 40 departments and services throughout Jackson County. Departments are geographically diverse requiring a fairly complex network of services that have to reach nearly all parts of the county. Overall it takes over 600 computers to effectively run the county and provide timely services to its citizens.

In the coming months and years we will continue to push towards making more and more services available on this web site. The goal is to provide a method for citizens to get government services from the convenience of their homes.
