The Jackson County Economic Development Foundation, Inc. is a public-private partnership providing a unified and comprehensive approach to economic development in a highly competitive business location environment. As a countywide effort, the Foundation represents a commitment to prepare for and aggressively search out and respond to new business and investment opportunities. The Foundation works with other state, regional, public and private organizations, to help simplify the process.

The Port of Pascagoula has been a major economic generator for Jackson County for decades. More than 28 million tons of cargo move through the public and private terminals each year. The 42 ft. deep Pascagoula Ship Channel is a 14 mile transit from the Gulf of Mexico into the port's two harbors, the Bayou Casotte Harbor and the Pascagoula River Harbor. Major cargoes through the public terminals include forest and paper products, frozen poultry, rubber, grains and steel.
